Necromunda - Van Saars 2 Electric Boogaloo

Image
I got in a second game of Necromunda with my new Van Saar Gang. I played Richard's Goliath gang. We were about the same gang rating. The Goliaths are a real brawler gang so I don't want them to get close if they are still standing up. My strategy will be to try and pin them down and maneuver around grabbing as many objectives as I can. Here is my Specialist and a Juve preparing for operation distraction. My leader and my new Neotek on Skyboard ready to go and get some treasure. My other two gangers ready to go get their treasure and maybe another, which is currently ant the end of the corridor. At the other end of the table lurks several hundred kilos of stimm fed Goliath muscle. This is the Leader and a Juve This is the remainder of the gang the Stimmer, two Gangers and a Juve. My Leader activates with the Neotek. He uses his overseer ability to enable the skyboard rider to activate twice in succession. This allows me to fly over, pick up the treasure and bring it back to be n...

Necromunda, Van Saar test drive

Image
After our first iteration gangs got rather too powerful we have made new starting gangs. I am building a Van Saar gang, thinking that the game is likely to be better with house gangs rather than the outliers. Van Saar's are almost the complete opposite to the cannibal meat workers We went to James's house to play because the Club facilities have been turned into an emergency vaccination center. James has a great room for gaming so everyone had loads of fun. I played James's Delaque gang. In theory this should be two shooting gangs having a shoot out. I don't really want to deploy above ground level because Van Saars have rubbish initiative. I have just about made it out of my deployment zone past the sniper fire and now a monster is stalking my back field. James Juve with Hand Flamer makes it around the corner and flames three of my gang. None of the flames wound but everyone is on fire. Yeah! At least the Juve has taken a flesh wound from my Radiation stratagem. A cou...

Necromunda, the Genestealer cult, who are the real close combat monsters?

Image
Then I played Ed's Genestealer cult, These are a sneaky group of Xenos abominations. Ed has cunning shooters with grenade launchers and some close combat Abominations and an Ambot. What can mere  chainsaws do against such reckless hate?  We are playing the border zone incursion, using Thomas's terrain. This layout features a lot of flat roofed buildings with big fields of fire. At the same time its hard to get to the people on the roof tops. Both of us featured random member selection to start on the table. In the opening moves of the game, my Skinner charges the Abberant, in a flurry of attacks the abomination is knocked out and sent out of action. Ed then attacked with a second abberant. I used the Hard Stop tactics card and got to attack first. That abberant was then out of action as well. My Buthcher and a ganger take cover behind a small building while one of my Initiates hides behind a small building, we are hiding from Ed's champion with Grenade launcher. Here are se...

Necromunda - Spiky Hair and a touch of poison

Image
I got in a double header of Necromunda missions at the club meeting on Saturday.  First up was James's Esher gang. The key to defeating Eshers is to set their hair gel on fire or give them a short back and sides with a chainsaw. Eshers looks like a movement and combat gang, they use shooting to suppress the enemy while their close combat specialists close in for the kill. With a large number of toxin and gas weapons, Esher are well equipped to deal with multiple wound opponents. We are playing on James's terrain set. This is great terrain. My initiate with Grenade launcher surveys the field. There are 8 loot counters scattered across the table, the idea is to open them and collect loot tokens which are hen exchanged for cash. One of my Cutter champions looks towards the Eshers. Here is my Initiate with heavy stubber. One of my gangers is looking for something to kill. My Initiate with flamer has snuck forward to put some pressure on the Eshers. This is the Esher leader and a ...

Necromunda - Cawdors keep out

Image
I got in a second game in our Necromunda Campaign. In this game I was raiding Callum's Cawdor gang. They had been expanding into some tunnels and I thought that access to a network of secret tunnels would be very useful. Besides there were a lot of them and it would be good to try out some combat. I had 7 models, I realised I was missing one after this picture. I had, the leader, both champions, two gangers and two Initiates. One of my initiates has a flamer, the other has a pistol and boning sword. The Flamer initiate has infiltrated near a couple of unsuspecting Cawdor who are guarding one of the treasure crates. Down at the other end of the table, Callum has set up a treasure crate in my deployment area. I return the favour by deploying right next to him. The carnage begins with my champion activating along with a ganger and we pile in. One Cawdor is taken down with a slash from a whirling saw. The Cawdor leader and a champion stood on top of the drill tower. The leaders main j...
