Warhammer 40K - the Sacking of St Trinians

Image
In the first game, my Death Guard were up against some Sisters of Battle. This place was disgustingly clean and pure, it was completely absent of any blessings of the garden of Nurgle. The theme of the tournament was "the Colosseum Cup" so the table I played on had round circular walls and ruins. I got the first turn and my Plague Marines advanced up the left flank. The Blightlord terminators and sorcerer advanced up the guts My Blight Drone buzzed round the flanks. It first squirted the canoness with caustic fluid and she dissolved into goo. But then with the blessings of the Emperor she got better.  Here is a squad of Batle Sisters guarding their home objective. The Sisters advance and get drenched in corrosive acid. The big mob of Club and Shield Sisters charge the Plague Marines. A brutal war of attrition results The Plague Drone, put down the Canoness and then squrted the rest of the sisters. I have Infection Markers on the objectives I have controlled. (the first Space ...

Hobby update - more painting

Image
I went to put my spare Genestealers and Hormagaunts back in their box and I saw these models and got inspired to paint these models. I stalled on them previously because I didn't like the paint scheme. I painted them in the grey, red and black schemes to match my Genestealers. The creatures these models represent are suitably hideous. Sometimes it's hard to determine what's supposed to be carapace. These are more of the hybrids. They are smarter so can use tools and ranged weapons but they also have claws and tentacles. These are less far along the painting process with basic colours blocked in. This is my Sons of the Cyclops Kill Team. I dug out these models out of my collection. These are old metal models or plastic marines with metal accessories.  These are some of my really old Tyranid warriors to supplement my Genestealers kill team. I used the Red Terror as a weapon beast. The leader has a metal Zoanthrope head. I'm trying to make the weapons look organic and fles...

Kill Team - Blood for the Blood God

Image
On Saturday I took on Ed's Veteran Guardsmen with my Legionaries. I decided to try out an all Khorne team. I took, a Chosen, Butcher, Annointed, Shrivetalon, Gunner with Flamer and Gunner with Heavy Bolter. This battle was taking place with the Guardsmen defending a ruined Imperial Shrine.   We were deployed along the short edges of the table. My general strategy would be to move up in conceal on the first turn and then blitz the guardsmen in a whirlwind of close combat bloodletting. My Heavy Gunner managed to shoot one guardsman and then killed a second with an overwatch burst after the trooper had the temerity to shoot at him. The guardsmen taking up defensive positions in the ruins of the shrine. The battle cries of the Chaos Space Marines echoing through the gloom. Ed did the common Imparial Guard play and dashed almost his whole team forwards. This put him in range of the objectives. With the first activation he moved a pair of his GA2 troopers onto the central objectives and ...

Sargrave the Magnificant 10 part 2

Image
I was thinking this was going to be a relatively easy mission. Then I realised I had misread the rules for slaver reinforcements. I thought there was one group of reinforcements in turn 4 and another in turn 8. It turns out there should be another group of reinforcements in a random corner in each of the first 4 turns. So I rolled up and put a random group in each corner, creating a second wave of attackers. Fortunately I failed to roll up another chaos space marine. The inquisitor gets bashed and pushed back, the cultists are trying to push him back so they can get to Vel. A counter charge from Chella and Drix drives the cultists back. Will this be the end of the brave Trooper Sugden? After blasting one cultist he jumped into combat with another and promptly got incapacitated by a crit 20. Brother Athos is trying to block the gap between the school hit and the village hall and intercept all the cultists trying to grab villagers. A veritable whirlwind of ceramite as bounds back and for...

Stargrave - Inquisition Season 2 - The Magnificent Ten

Inquisitor Rathbourne led the band on the next stage of the Maguffin hunt. Chella and Drix have revealed that they have uncovered evidence of a gathering of Chaos Reaver fleets. If these fleets can gather together in an alliance, they can strike from their hidden base and wreak havoc across the sector. The chaos warbands are meeting at an ancient, abandoned space station, possibly of Xenos origin. Chella knows the location of Vel Krendar a retired sailor from the Rogue Trader ship that discovered the station. Vel had retired to an agricultural village on Nontestent. Originally this was a minor agricultural planet but now it found itself subject to raids by renegade forces. After transiting the warp, the team took their shuttle down to the surface. The inquisition codes got us through the air defence grid. The villagers all look suspiciously at the new arrivals. Eventually we get directions to Vel's house. His house is primitive looking on the outside but inside is filled with scrap...
