Call to Arms Zombie Apocalypse part 2

Image
More pictures from our game A huge mob of zombies is roaming back and forth on the ground looking for someone to eat.  Bruce Wayne is back on the roof looking for evil dooers to end. John Wick declines to sign autographs while being mobbed by zombies, he manages to get away, get to his car and drive off with his dog. Bruce has moved into a new building and is drawing a bead on one of the evil characters being controlled by James over to the right. Bruce dives out the window and onto the roof of a station wagon then the tree and the roof of the camper. Bruce then jumped onto the carcass of Lightning McQueen to attack a convict. This was an escaped serial killer so fought back before being finished by a stab from Brice's Katana. Bruce then made it to the roof of a small building. The 4th Doctor was going the other way to convert the Jurassic Park jeep into a device that could defeat the Daleks. Bruce heads off in pursuit of another baddy while some zombies cheer. Call to Arms Zombie Apocalypse - part 1

Alan organised a huge zombie apocalypse game for us all to play at Call to Arms. We used simple AI rules for the zombies and we all got to play characters from movie and TV franchises. This is an overview of the table. It's a full 8 by 6 table. My first character was a pair of identical twins, one good and one evil that had either to kill another child character or get an ice cream on their way out of town A view down the street. There are lots of zombies. Alan was using a modified version of the Carnevale rules so most of the children were acrobats and gymnasts and could jump from rooftop to rooftop. But at the expense of being very vulnerable if caught in combat by a zombie or an enemy character. We have made it to the second roof and are now looking to see if we can jump into the tree and then to a car roof for safety. You could never be sure when you would get and activation because Alan was using a random draw. We managed to fail a jump test and ended up in an alley in the wro...

Call To Arms 2025

We held our annual convention Call to Arms on the weekend of 30-31 August. About 160 wargamers from all over New Zealand came and played in 10 different events. Up on the stage we had a couple of different Napoleonic games. They are great looking games with nice armies in spiffy uniforms. The main hall was mostly filled with GW games. on the far left we have the MESBG, then AOS. These were two of our largest events. In the middle of the hall, we have the Horus Heresy games On the right of the hall, we have Kill Team, Flames of War, Warhammer Old World and some of the Demo games including Alan's huge zombie apocalypse game. (more on that later) The ancient gamers are on their preferred side hall. It's warm, quiet and close to the toilets. There were 18 of them playing DBMM This is one of the MESBG tables. The terrain they had was really nice. 3 of the players dressed up as wizards, we had Saruman, Gandalf and Radagast running around in wigs and robes and waving their staffs lik...

Call to Arms - other games

Dale Elvy and his friends returned to Call to Arms and were putting on an excellent looking demo game series of Man-o-War. They had several fleets of beautifully painted models. Here are some shots from their games. This looks like Dark Elf, Norse and Nurgle fleets attacking some High Elves. The purpose of this attack was to seize control of some forts guarding the Brettonnian coast. Here are some Brettonnians trying to protect their coasts. On day two there was a massive multi fleet battle. The Flames of War games looked amazing, all the tables had immersive terrain.

Rangers of Shadowdeep - Rescue at the Farmhouse.

After trekking through the disgusting swamp Robin and his band were looking for shelter. They came across a farmhouse and some out buildings. Figures could be seen moving in the windows. Will wanted to storm the place and kill all the cultists. Robin thought that they might be normal villagers and therefore friends. Robin sneaked forwards and called out "Nottingham"! A voice answered back "Sherriff". That was not the best answer but at least it wasn't cultists. Here is the farmhouse, some of the out-buildings are rather dilapidated. When the team made it into the farmhouse, the found a couple of men at arms wearing the livery of the Sherriff of Nottingham. There were several locals and farmers. A familiar face scowled at them from the darkness. Guy of Gisbourne. "It would be you Wolfshead".  The Cultists are coming, and they have monsters with them.  A troll was lurking behind these bushes. On the other side a patrol of cultists was approaching. An ini...
