Warriors of Athena - The Mother in Law visits.

I decided to try out a game against a Medusa. This one is from NorthStar Fugures Greek Legends of OGAM. Achillies has moved up and been charged by the single skellie that could get there in two actions. He has a solid backing of his warband. The archer is off to the left and the thief to the right. When you activate within 12 inches of a Medusa you have to take a turned to stone test. She is busy calling out "My eyes are up here!" I promptly failed two tests, fortunately the rest made it into contact. Achillies dealt with one Skellie and moved into contact with a second.  One of the Mymidons was felled by a Skellie. So, at the moment it's taken me three warriors to kill two skellies. We go again, pass all the turn to stone tests. the two warriors do their part and kill a Skellie each however Achillies falls to a Skellie again! The archer manages to turn himself to stone while the Thief is roaming the ruins looking for loot in all the wrong places. The last two warrior cl...

Warriors of Athena - The big Mooo!

After the last debacle against the Skeletons, I tried out a battle against a minotaur.  I forgot to take a picture of the initial deployment, but it was similar to the last one Achillies moved up and waved a red flag at the minotaur, it charged forwards but couldn't reach Achillies in time to attack. Next turn Achillies and company ran up and turned the minotaur into burgers.  Looks like meat's back on the menu. Was that it? That was a bit anticlimactic. We stood around and looted the treasure markers. I added half a dozen Skellies that came out of the mausoleum. Achillies and his best buddies trapped them in a defile and chopped them to bits. See this is more like it. Brad Pitt eat your heart out. The Skellies were surrounded and chopped to bits. Right lads, that got the rust out. No more, new-model syndrome for us.

Warriors of Athena - trial games

I created a hero based on Achillies from the movie Troy. So he is good a fighting and not so much else. I'm trying to get a feel for how many monsters you need to get into a game if I'm creating my own scenarios. Here is some of my Greek terrain. We have Achillies with 2 barbarians, 3 Mirmidons and archer and a thief. We are facing off against 12 skeleton warriors and a Revenant. Normally this would be pretty easy for a Frostgrave scenario so should be the warm-up before we get onto the tough missions. Right?? Achillies and one of the companions rush in and take down a Skellie. Turns out these Skellies are equipped like Hoplites and are fight 2. Eeek! The Skellies pile in and Achillies companion falls. The three Myrmidons are holding off the Skellies in the pass and the archer and thief are looking for opportunities show of their skills. Our Three Brave Lads manage to drive back one Skellie and kill another. Achillies has gotten a replacement friend just in time because he is s...
