Deth Wizard Game 4 - Robbing the Nobles mansion

Here is Krell's Warband after the game with their latest recruit Lucy, the Vampire Spawn. She is modelling the latest in Agent Provocateur haute cuisine.

Here we are all deployed in a traditional bunch, just emerging from the forest.
The Nobles mansion is defended by six warriors, 2 Wizards (Harry and Ron) and two dashing rogues.
The Rogues race around and try to attack my mummy. Only a small number of warriors rush forwards into the kill zone. I think in this game I managed to take 3 warriors down to 1 wound, my mummy model is a classic Heroquest model and must be 30 years old at least.
Richard's Wizard and Vampire chased off the Rogues. My mummy has several knives sticking out of him. The warriors that did advance did not last long.
That's wear Richards Vampire went. He ate one of the rogues but then took a fiery bolt in the back. The remaining warriors are having a quick review of their contract to see whether they really have to run into a horde of undead and sacrifice their immortal souls to make a noble even richer. 
Apparently yes, they do! Two of them run around the forest and end up touching Krell. All vrawn and no brains these guys.
The Death Knight pile in and stabs one of the warriors then Krell takes him down to one wound. The last warrior finally plucks up the courage to back up his comrades
Richard's forces have now polished off the last rogue and are closing on the wizards. We are on the clock here to kill everyone by turn 3 for the bonus xp.

In two goes Richard's wizard could not roll a 9 or a ten to kill Harry so the vampire had to go and do it.
That left a badly wounded Ron still alive at the end of turn 3. "Curses, those annoying boys not dying on schedule. Very annoying that. No manners the living!"
Here is a shot of Krell's full warband. We brought out Skellie number 4 with the banner, and we recruited a Vampire Spawn.

I have three experience points burning a hole in my pocket. So I might save that until after the next game.

I also got the base upgrades Observatory from the scenario and Guardian Statues. I need one more upgrade before my base becomes advanced. Fortunately the heroes failed to find me. Losing 5 points of my followers would be very annoying.

I am enjoying this game and got inspired to make a vampire themed team starting with my Crooked dice models. This is WIP shot. I can do this Solo and using the Hard mode missions. Since this photo the Vampire bride in red has gotten more red glazes to knock back those ivory highlights.

Call To Arms 2025

 We held our annual convention Call to Arms on the weekend of 30-31 August. About 160 wargamers from all over New Zealand came and played in 10 different events. Up on the stage we had a couple of different Napoleonic games. They are great looking games with nice armies in spiffy uniforms. The main hall was mostly filled with GW games. on the far left we have the MESBG, then AOS. These were two of our largest events. In the middle of the hall, we have the Horus Heresy games On the right of the hall, we have Kill Team, Flames of War, Warhammer Old World and some of the Demo games including Alan's huge zombie apocalypse game. (more on that later) The ancient gamers are on their preferred side hall. It's warm, quiet and close to the toilets. There were 18 of them playing DBMM This is one of the MESBG tables. Hobby update - Frostgrave campaign

For our next Frostgrave campaign we are going to theme it with Warhammer models. The idea is that we are all the forces of chaos and destruction and are going to bring down the kingdoms of men elves and dwarfs as part of our 12-step programme to ascension. Using a warhammer theme also makes it more accessible to people that have not played before. Everyone has some GW fantasy models. I have bought a few Warcry warbands and some underworlds boxes to make warbands. I have made some other models out of a box of undead peasants to round out some of the thieves and thugs that are not usually included in Warcry warbands. After reading a Conan story where he encounters a giant composite ghost. I remember I had this model from the Carnevale Doctors range and am painting it to look like it's a ghost. Stargrave game 2 - It's a bug hunt

  George and I got in a second game of our Stargrave campaign. We used the dead or alive mission and generated the Brood Mother. I didn't think it made much sense for a group of human mercenaries to work for a creature that kept trying to get them to bathe in marinade. I replaced all the mercenaries with spiders using the creatures from Quadrant 37. We used the Transmat to beam down to the planet Spiridon This is a very hostile jungle planet teaming with all sorts of lethal predators. Receiving reports of unidentified aliens hiding in the Plane of Stones we set out through the jungle to find out what was going on.  Here is the Raknos nest, somewhat unexpected. In addition. the nearby volcano is showing signs of an imminent eruption. Here we have the crew deployed. We have a new Engineer, I think I forgot to deploy one of the team.
