Dungeons and dragons - back to the past
Last weekend I ran my first game of dungeons and dragons in about 40 years. I joined a group of guys who all turned out to be my age reliving their childhood. We played online via discord.
The original DM had to withdraw because his new job was taking up too much of his time. I volunteered to take over.
I’m running my games with help from Grok. I created Bob short for Kate to be the DM. I also created Elric Shadowquill my cartographer.
This is the regional map. The player characters are currently moving from the city of Guilders Sleeve in the bottom right to take up posts at the fort on the frontier. Here we are getting ready to set out. This is the Barbarian’s armpit a well known drinking establishment and a from favourite of my character Arzag. Yes he looks like Santa in this picture. We arrived at the Blackthorn farm and after helping them with some chores we settled in for a nights sleep. ….. Foolish mortals.
During the night the farm dog started barking and we all got up to check it out.
Good thing we got up to investigate. It was Orks! We had a good fight against them. My character decid3d not to dress for the occasion and got hit with an axe. The battle was decided when the Druid cast entangle and help several of the orks until we could get around to killing them.
We rescued the farming family killed all the orks an nicked their stuff. Just like good old fashioned heroes.
We found a clue! The orks had a map of sorts. I am not share who it was written on. We have decided to check out the rest of the nearby farms.
This is the poor Pory farm. They think they are cursed….. they might be right.
Playing dungeons and dragons got me into wargaming when we decided we liked fighting each other more than the monsters. Loads of nostalgic fun. Next time a mystery to solve. Dun dun dun.
