Five Parsecs - Prosecution on Pangetera

Admiral Everett transmitted the sealed orders. Once decrypted, they confirmed that a former Star Fleet officer ex Commander Peddington and several of his former crew had been so disturbed by an encounter in deep space that they had resigned from Star Fleet. Now it was possible they were trying to sell this information to the highest bidder.

Star Fleet intelligence had authorised a sanction order against Peddington and his followers. 

Here are Peddington and his band. They have military rifles apart from the guy in the cowboy had who a hunting rifle. They use the aggressive AI but combat skill 0 so don't get the free blades and won't charge into a brawl.

We seized the initiative against the Abandoned, this allowed us to take a free move up. We then rolled no one acting in the fast phase. This is OK because there are few firing opportunities when the enemies are hunkered down out of line of sight. Moving in the slow phase gives me a chance to react to what the Abandoned do. Here they are moving up.
Romjin has a move of 6 demonstrating the superior physical prowess of a genetic uplift.
Peck has advanced forward and opened a hatch to give him a good covered position. He then deploys the bipod stabiliser on his weapon.
Peck takes out one of the former crewmembers with his hunting rifle. The Captain is hiding under the stairs. You can see the captains legs sticking out under the stairs. Romjin also took down a crew member on the other side. 
This caused one of the enemy to flee the battlefield.
Romjin blasts a crew member, Peddington leads from the rear and one of the others tries to flank Romjin.
Gooding secures the data pad while Commander Romjin takes out Peddington with her plasma rifle.
The Captain finds himself facing the wrong end of the specialists hunting rifle, having failed to get any rolls to activate int he quick phase the rifle roars, hits, wounds and takes out the captain, except he is protected by the low profile combat armour he is wearing under his uniform. "I'm saved by my lucky cigar holder"
His return shot did not miss and the hand cannon has +2 to wound so took out the specialist when he realised he left his lucky flask in his other jacket.
Everyone is now out of sickbay and our new crew member Quin who coincidently is a good if unconventional engineer.

These games are nice and quick, using my Core Space terrain from Battle Systems I can set up and play a game very quickly

Frostgrave introduction and trial game

 I tried out my illusionist warband against George’s construct building enchanter. My warband are made from the Shadow stalker and the underworlds box. They are supplemented with a classic avatars of war thief and a witch Elf thug. I have two shadow hounds and an illusionary one. The trick with this warband is to rush up a war dog, then transpose that with a fast mover and then in the apprentice phase swap the illusionary dog with the treasure carrier. On a 3 by 3 table you can get the central treasure under control in your deployment zone by the end of the apprentice phase in turn 1. We played the mausoleum scenario which turned out to be even better, there were uncontrolled creatures right next to the treasure and they don’t resist being transposed.  The terrain is set out to represent an abandoned or soon to be depopulated Empire village.  Here we are Pete in the first turn. Call To Arms 2025

 We held our annual convention Call to Arms on the weekend of 30-31 August. About 160 wargamers from all over New Zealand came and played in 10 different events. Up on the stage we had a couple of different Napoleonic games. They are great looking games with nice armies in spiffy uniforms. The main hall was mostly filled with GW games. on the far left we have the MESBG, then AOS. These were two of our largest events. In the middle of the hall, we have the Horus Heresy games On the right of the hall, we have Kill Team, Flames of War, Warhammer Old World and some of the Demo games including Alan's huge zombie apocalypse game. (more on that later) The ancient gamers are on their preferred side hall. It's warm, quiet and close to the toilets. There were 18 of them playing DBMM This is one of the MESBG tables. Stargrave game 2 - It's a bug hunt

  George and I got in a second game of our Stargrave campaign. We used the dead or alive mission and generated the Brood Mother. I didn't think it made much sense for a group of human mercenaries to work for a creature that kept trying to get them to bathe in marinade. I replaced all the mercenaries with spiders using the creatures from Quadrant 37. We used the Transmat to beam down to the planet Spiridon This is a very hostile jungle planet teaming with all sorts of lethal predators. Receiving reports of unidentified aliens hiding in the Plane of Stones we set out through the jungle to find out what was going on.  Here is the Raknos nest, somewhat unexpected. In addition. the nearby volcano is showing signs of an imminent eruption. Here we have the crew deployed. We have a new Engineer, I think I forgot to deploy one of the team.
