Frostgrave - Slaughter at Schlemdorf
Alan George and I got together for a game of Frostgrave in our new campaign.
The formerly peaceful town of Schlemdorf has been the site of a battle between the forces of order and those of Chaos. A town bereft of population might be the source of some easy pickings for those looking for treasure and magical knowledge.Alternatively, we could be here to rescue survivors and ensure the people are safe.
Here are a group of Dwarf Slayers. Marching into battle singing the “Hi, Ho” song.
Here are the surviving citizens of Schlemdorf. They are keen to meet the new arrivals and for some reason are singing the “Food Glorious Food” Here are the forces of Vandred Hellforger and his apprentice Maegara making an advance towards the center of town. We commence casting enchant weapon and Strength on the soldiers in the squad.
George's Skaven team commence rescue operations.
While everyone might expect the Inquisition no one was expecting Alan's Witch hunter to transpose the frost giant with a ghoul.
The center of town, the Dwarf Slayers that had been chasing the giant will now have to settle for some Skaven and some Ghouls. The Chaos warriors form a line of scrimmage to face down the giant. Most of the team are now fight 6 or 7.
The Skaven and Dwarfs are engaged in a war of mutually assured destruction. There was much squirting of the musk of fear, especially when the skaven leaders found themselves in the front line. The giant constructs managed to kill several dwarfs before succumbing to their axes.
On the other side of the house some of the Dwarfs have engaged the Witch Hunters. There is a poor lonely pile of treasure in need of rescuing.
Timber! The Giant falls. Even though I was fighting with fight 12 I managed to fail to inflict any damage with the first attack. It took one of my enchanted infantrymen and several assists (it might also have been the 19 I rolled on the dice)
Vandred sends his forces forwards to the central objective.
The Giant slaying infantryman makes it to the central treasure cheered on by the Knight.
The Skaven and Dwarfs are still fighting hard. George managed to kill 8 of the slayers including one of the Daemon slayers. Georges apprentice consistently failed to cast magic spells and took himself down to 2 wounds without any help from Allan or I.George's wizard managed to defeat one of the daemon slayers and this allowed him to escape. Much-much kill-slay.
The Chaos Knight covers the retreat now that we have secured the central treasure. It has taken 3 Dwarfs to defeat Alan's warhound. Vandred and Maegara cast Leap on the warrior with the treasure so allow him to rapidly relocate to the rear.
The forces of chaos are now falling back to the APC while laying down suppressive swipes of an enchanted axe.

To ensure the Dwarfs didn't interfere further Vandred created a wall of fog. The Dwarfs were happy to chase and kill Ghouls.
The Dwarfs are terrible singers.
"Slaying, slaying give me a troll or two."
"I love slaying oh yes, oh yes I do!"
My team made it back to base with 3 treasures including the central one. We also found a large bag of cash in one of the treasury strong boxes.
We managed to enchant two weapons but failed to write any scrolls.
We did get enough money to equip our base with the Enchanters Workshop.
George and Alan suffered several casualties and will be recruiting some replacements. I think George will be unleashing a wave of fanatical Skaven slaves, next game. He did manage to build his 3rd large construct. "They have 3 rat ogres!" said in your best Sean Bean voice.
I did see that GW are releasing some very nice-looking Underworlds boxes.
