Adepticon - Saga Age of Chivalry

On the Thursday I played in the Saga Age of Chivalry event. This is the latest set of rules, so I needed to paint a new army. I had some Wargames Atlantic medieval peasants that I needed to paint so my army is made of those and some dismounted knights from Footsore miniatures. The English army is influenced by longbows and has plenty of shooting abilities.

In the first game I was playing the internet famous RodgeRules. He was organising the event so I wondered if I was considered the most unreliable attendee. Rodge was using Germans so heavily armoured Knights and infantry and a unit of peasants with Crossbows.

Here is most of the English army. The 2 D terrain was surprisingly immersive. It also solves the problems of models falling off and its very easy for the umpire to bring to an event.
Here are some of ze Germans. A Warlord, mounted knights on barded horses, some foot hearthguard and some foot warriors
on the other side are more knights and the peasant crossbows.

Here is the English Right Flank anchored on the ruins of some house.
In some totally different version of anchored the ruin is now under new management. The German warriors must be keen for a cheap rental in need of a motivated owner.
Annoyed by being shot at by Crossbows the English spearmen charge in to give them a taste of British Spunk.
Turns out the German peasants don't like it up em and all got killed off. However, I am exhausted and in the wrong part of town. The German knights are upset because we killed off their cooks and poets. Who vill rekord all our deeds and boil our cabbage? A sustained attack with the knights and warlord tag teaming the warriors sees the end of the brave tommies.
On the right things are not going much better. My archers tried a counterattack and got wiped out
The English knights charge in and kill off some German knights.
The surviving English archers are plinking away at the Germans. The English warlord watches on. This turned out to be an English Victory.

With a cease fire declared we decide to go on holiday in chocolate loving Switzerland.

I got in against Ben and his Star Striders, The Genestealers had made a lair in some old ruins. The Starstrider crew needed to cross this dangerous area so they could recover a valuable relic. Here are the Genestealers lying in wait for any that enter their territory. I placed once stealer in the open because I knew I could Salk it into cover and threaten the mid board. The Star Strider's motion trackers started going off, but they could not lock down the locations of the Genestealers while they were hiding in the ruins. The Genestealers are scuttling forwards. The Genestealers have flanked around their short side and seized control of the objective point between the Star Striders and their relic One the other side the board the Star Striders are advancing. 7TV Vlads Army - the climax - Battle at the Church

 The Home Guard have raced back to their headquarters at the Church. (its the only place with a working phone). They have found the vicar and verger inside and have amassed a stock of supplies with which to make maguffins and other unique weapons of war. Just then a dark smokey cloud spreads over the graveyard and long dead hands start erupting from the ground. The Vampires have arrived, and this time they are led in person by Major Shreck. Can the Home Guard drive off the fiends of the night? Here is the church and its surrounding graveyard. (Seriously, who does that?) To the right is the church hall and at the bottom a couple of bomb-damaged houses. There is a war on. Here are the brave defenders taking their positions. Stargrave game 2 - It's a bug hunt

  George and I got in a second game of our Stargrave campaign. We used the dead or alive mission and generated the Brood Mother. I didn't think it made much sense for a group of human mercenaries to work for a creature that kept trying to get them to bathe in marinade. I replaced all the mercenaries with spiders using the creatures from Quadrant 37. We used the Transmat to beam down to the planet Spiridon This is a very hostile jungle planet teaming with all sorts of lethal predators. Receiving reports of unidentified aliens hiding in the Plane of Stones we set out through the jungle to find out what was going on.  Here is the Raknos nest, somewhat unexpected. In addition. the nearby volcano is showing signs of an imminent eruption. Here we have the crew deployed. We have a new Engineer, I think I forgot to deploy one of the team.
