Stargrave - 40K style -Botched Deal

At yesterday's Warlords meeting, some members and guests were having a Star Wars Legion event. There were about 16 people playing.
Here are some shots of some of the games.
This is a desert planet.
This is the jungle planet. Somebody was using the Angry Teddybear Freedom Movement.
Here is an ice planet. The Imperial insurance assessors will have their work cut out for them here.

While all this Star Wars fun was going on George Daniel and I had an introductory game of Stargrave. We were using 40k themed models. George had Orks, Daniel had Tau and I had the Inquisition.

In this scenario some cultists had set up a deal to sell some guns and information to some other factions and the Inquisition had gotten wind of this (what else are Criminal Informants for?) and were out to shut down the operation. None of this due process and arresting the miscreants, we are the Inquisition after all.

Here is the Inquisition. Inquisitor Rathborne is in disguise. I took him out to paint the highlight on his sword and then forgot to put him back in the box. This was especially disappointing because I had painted a new model specifically for this game.
One of the brave soldiers managed to gun down a cultist. Obviously not all were trained at the Imperial Stormtrooper academy.
Here we are running forwards towards the center of the settlement. This is turn 2 when the shooting started. Inquisitor Rathborne has turned on his void blade and regenerated the effort that took. He is galloping towards the central objective. Another cultist behind the container also got shot down by the Sentry, even though he is supposed to be the worst shot of the troopers.

Here are some of the Orks, the warboss and some of the boyz were running towards that tall building over on the right, the Mekboy had made a drone and this and a Grot were trying to figure out how to open the computer. Lots of "hit any Key".

Here are the Tau, they were doing all sorts of horrible things like using AI machine gunners rather than Mechanicus approved brain scrubbed servitors. The Tau are advancing towards a crate of guns on a car and a computer terminal on the roof of the building. The central loot token is just visible behind the lethal force authorised sign.
Unfortunate complications started showing up as people started unlocking loot tokens. A Sentry bot arrived behind the inquisition.
A giant xenos beast arrived behind the Orks.

Some Primitive Scavies were attracted by all the noise, but were a bit disappointed to find far too many food sources still alive and kicking. This would make the Tau exfiltration a bit more exciting.
The Tau are clustered around the car trying to get the case of weapons unlocked. The Mekboy had created a wall of smoke represented by the blue line which was preventing the Tau from acquiring targets. Wot sort of Ork uses camoflage rather than fight? Must be a sneaky Blood Axe.
A cultist has appeared on the roof and would continue to be a thorn in the side of the Tau for the rest of the game.
One of the cultists was trying to hold off half the ork warband by himself. He did a passable impression of Butch Cassidy for a few moments but then dies in a hail of stubber fire.
The Sentry Bot was advancing and making it much more difficult for the Inquisition to move around. The plasma gunner turned around and was about to gun it down but then the droid rolled a critical 20 for its dodge.
The Mekboy and a Grot were advancing towards a third loot token. The Orks responded with characteristic violence and were shooting at the work while the Warboss was yelling Waargh and challenging the worm to a proper fight.

The Worm took a bite out of the Warboss who the struck back with his power claw and disemboweled it.
The Inquisitor had climbed up and down to get the marker beacon on the roof, The Recruit had proved useful as a bullet sponge. The Sentrybot charged the gunner who promptly stabbed the red hot end of his plasma gun into its inner workings. The Sentry (human) then charged in and hit it with his sword.

The Tau Captain had turned the corner and tried to spray down the inquisitor. But he parried the bullets with his Void  blade. The Rogue Trader was not quite so lucky and received some bullets. The Tau recruit, an Imperial Recruit and a Trooper were engaged in a fight for a box of guns. The trooper shanked the Tau with his combat knife and the Recruit ran off with the crate of guns.

The Mekboy announced it had a flamer, eeek. fortunately the guardsmen were well versed in this kind of weapon and rolled out of the way of the blast. The Grot had unlocked the crate and was lugging it around the corner. The Rogue Trader had issued legal papers on the Ork drone and this confused it long enough to make it drop the data package.
The addition of another guardsman dealt with the Sentrybot. The Tau had dealt with one of the Scavies. George had consistently rolled low for the Unwanted attention so obviously the buyers of the weapons were turned off by all the heat and decided not to show.
The Guardsman charged the Mekboy and got smacked around for his impudence.

In the end the Orks made off with three loot tokens, the Inquisition got two including the central one and the Tau made off with the other two.

So a nice game to get back into Stargrave and introduce some new players. You know when they are keen because they keep discussing options to make more crews.
