Hobby Update - The road to Adepticon part 1

I got into the Frostgrave event at Adepticon. I then got inspired to make a new warband. I dug through my collection of old models. I bought a Skaven army deal from GW mail order back in about 1995 and the order came signed by Andy Chambers when he was just a mail order processor (not even a mail order troll yet).

Here are some models that probably won't make the table, although the model with censor and staff might make a good Apothecary.
Here we have a bunch more useful reserves. A Crossbow rat with Jezzail, Storm Vermin Templar, Archer (with Sling), Clan rat Knight, a Plague Monk Barbarian, A Rat at Arms and two Infantry Rats.
Pete kindly gave me a couple of the old Isle of Blood Rat Ogres. So I painted them up to be my animal companion Bears. I'm Inspired by one of Richards favorite tactics and am going to recruit-take some rat ogres from Clan Moulder and then leap them onto the central objective. If I get a chance I will buy a scroll of Plague of insects and cast that on the Ogre Bears and everyone fighting them gets -4 to their rolls due to the cloud of warpstone infused flies. This is the best Cloud solution I have seen in years.
Here is the back of the Ogre Bears, we have Face Smasher on the left and Gut Ripper on the right. I got inspired by Vince Venturella's painting Rat Ogre video.
Here's my starting gang of followers If I don't get any Animal companions. I have a Plague Monk Barbarian, the idea is I can cast Strength on him and enchant his weapon making him fight 7. I have a Rat at Arms, a Jezzail, a Clan Eshin Thief, at the front are two thugs and two warhounds, very fast and cheap, Kill-slay Quick-Quick.
Finally in the preferred Skaven leadership position (the rear) are the mage and his apprentice. We will be enchanting weapons, boosting the warriors with warpstone enhanced strength and skitter leaping the enhanced warriors into the enemy while we stay and offer strategic advice from a nice safe distance.

It's possible that some of these models will be older than my opponents. They are all robust metal models, so won't be a problem going on the plane.

  1. Those look fantastic. I love the "alternative" Frostgrave groups... I have a neat mix of goblin and orc models that make a fun and different FG group.
