Kill Team learning game - Plague Marines
For a second game I took out the Plague Marines using the newly released rules from the starter set. The rules for Plague Marines are heavily tailored to the models that come in the boxed set rather than the boxed set of models that make up the 40K range.
There are several models that you can use in 40k that are not covered in the Kill Team rules. Unlike other teams, the Plague Marines can only field one warrior.
The third Ork took fire from the bombardier on the roof. It too damage and was poisoned.
The Bombardier clambered onto the roof and shot the coms boy behind its barricade and then overwatched the ork across the table. The Icon Bearer remained safe behind the building while the champion raced forward. The Champion got a surprise from the Breacher boy who charged through a wall as if he was a Mandrake. The Icon Bearer was also befouling the objective. The Plague Marine fighter wheezed his way over. After squirting the Ork Nob into a puddle of goo the heavy gunner took a breather under the roof to score two Overrun points. The Psycher had wandered over and managed to dissolve one of the Orks with his powers. The sniper ork tried and missed the Bombardier. The heavy gunner chased after the Gretchen got within range and dissolved the squealing Grot. The Breacher Boy took down the champion, the fighter then charged and finished off the Breacher. The Icon bearer charged and defeated the sniper on the roof. The Bombardier climbed down from the roof and made it to the objective.
At that point the Kommandos ran out of Orks.
Another great learning experience. The new Plague Marines do exactly what it says on the tin. They are tough and can hit hard and poisoning enemies is a nice thematic touch as are many of the special rules that work around the numbers 3 and 7.
