Frostgrave - In the sewers, the stinky sewers the Skaven squeak tonight

George and I got in a quick side quest to see if we could rescue some gold from under the streets of Altdorf. The sewers are the natural habitat for Skaven.

Unfortunately, nothing ever quite goes to plan. This part of the sewer network was infested with spiders. Their preferred food would be anyone coming down into their basement and maintenance workers.
It also turned out to be Devourer mating season. These creatures are really nasty but peaceful until they are damaged or they see another of their kind. They can also burrow through walls, fortunately they are not very fast.

Vandred is leading half the team on the right.

Maegera is leading the fire support section, the first job is to run forward and open the door.
Vandred has cast Strength on Morkar the Bloody, this knight only fights well when at less than full health.
Iskarna the thief opens the first door, opening doors takes an action (it's not Star Trek with automatic doors. The warriors pile into the first room. Maegara has cast strength on the Infantryman.
Morkar the Bloody earning his battle name, by rolling a 3 and losing a fight to an ice spider. To make matters worse he had a +10 fight advantage over the creature. George was merciful and only rolled an 18.
The Man at arms deals with the spider and everyone moves up. Vandred heals Morkar so he isn't poisoned anymore. Vandred has had to give a lot of himself to cast the first two spells of the game. I hope things get better quickly.
Magaera's team move forwards into the room and open the next door while surrounding the treasure
Having secured the treasure and squashed the spider we secure the room while Sorkar the infantryman moves into the next room with his enchanted club. This was a critical success so the weapon is +1 fight and +1 damage.

The devourers make it into the same room and so become violent. Having a horde of skaven watching from the next room, really kills the romance mood. George has already been zapping one of the huge creatures.
Iskarna picked up the treasure and shanked the spider that leapt out at her. Another spider was sneaking up on them but got taken out with an arrow. Definitely a case of movement in front and behind.
The damaged devourer makes it into the room where it can see my warband. Oh Crap!
Vandred recalls the infantryman and gets his team ready to fight the Devourer.
However, this proved to be an over-reaction after he downed it with a critical energy bolt. This blasted the creature into randomly sized barbequed chunks. There is some good eating on those!

George was annoying the other Devourer by opening the door, having his wizards blast it with warp lightning and then close the door. This worked until the enraged creature broke thorough the wall. In a serious fight the Devourer took down 3 of George's constructs before being taken out with a warpstone bullet from the Skaven marksman.
While falling back to our APC, we got ambushed by another spider that ate my man at arms with a critical hit.
Vandred, Morkar and Sokar celebrate making it out of the sewers.
Ishkarna the thief kept adding to her spider tally dealing efficiently with the creatures.
With much squirting of the musk of fear, the Skaven manage to overcome the Devourer
Vandred and the warband make it back to base. We got gold, a scroll and some small change. However from our Treasury we got a roll on the treasure table and this was more gold and a Grimoire.
Flush from this game Vandred upgraded some members of the warband, We upgraded the infantryman into a Barbarian and gave him the swanky magic sword. That cost me my scroll of Embed Enchantment, but very worth it. The Thief got upgraded to an Apothecary and then we sold the bow of +1 damage and this gave me enough cash to replace the archer with a second Knight. Maybe Morkar will try harder if there is some competition.
