Hobby Update - Holy icon.

 Here is my statue from the Blood and Faith box.


I started with a zenetial primer coat then went straight to the oil wash. This is a great way to get shadows and stains into the recesses.




After wiping off the oil wash. I gave the statue a drybrush of ivory to boost the highlights. This did a great job of bringing out the details and maximising the contrast. This gave the statue a Weeping Angels vibe.
After watching Duncan Rohdes painting tutorial, I decided to paint the plinth, candles and details to give it more colour and contrast. St Anna is now ready to appear in about zero Killt Team games.

I got in against Ben and his Star Striders, The Genestealers had made a lair in some old ruins. The Starstrider crew needed to cross this dangerous area so they could recover a valuable relic. Here are the Genestealers lying in wait for any that enter their territory. I placed once stealer in the open because I knew I could Salk it into cover and threaten the mid board. The Star Strider's motion trackers started going off, but they could not lock down the locations of the Genestealers while they were hiding in the ruins. The Genestealers are scuttling forwards. The Genestealers have flanked around their short side and seized control of the objective point between the Star Striders and their relic One the other side the board the Star Striders are advancing. Stargrave game 2 - It's a bug hunt

  George and I got in a second game of our Stargrave campaign. We used the dead or alive mission and generated the Brood Mother. I didn't think it made much sense for a group of human mercenaries to work for a creature that kept trying to get them to bathe in marinade. I replaced all the mercenaries with spiders using the creatures from Quadrant 37. We used the Transmat to beam down to the planet Spiridon This is a very hostile jungle planet teaming with all sorts of lethal predators. Receiving reports of unidentified aliens hiding in the Plane of Stones we set out through the jungle to find out what was going on.  Here is the Raknos nest, somewhat unexpected. In addition. the nearby volcano is showing signs of an imminent eruption. Here we have the crew deployed. We have a new Engineer, I think I forgot to deploy one of the team. Hobby Update - Age of Sigmar - Spearhead terrain

I have been having fun painting my terrain for AOS spearhead. I got to use a range of my favourite techniques and some experiments. The terrain got painted with a selection of grey tones, dry brushed onto the undercoat. The wood is a coat of Gagrax sewer with some brown sand highlights. The metal is Vallejo Bronze. Then everything got a dark green-brown oil wash. This got wiped off most of the stonework, creating some more contrast in the shadows. This also tinted things a bit green I recently got a bottle of plage bearer flesh from Scott at Kapiti Hobbies. I ran a wash of this around the bottom of the pieces to strengthen the idea of moss or damp or slime corrupting the stone. For the warpstone elements I painted them flourescent yellow and then gave them a good coat of Karandras green contrast. This allows the yellow to show through at the thinnest points. Overall I'm quite pleased with how these items are turning out.
