Fighting Irish - who let the dogs out

Image
I bought a couple of boxes of Wargames Atlantic Dark Age Irish Warriors. I can make a Saga army out of these. They could be Irish, Norse Gaels, Scots or Welsh. I have managed to get some paint on these models I also made some axe armed models. I can use them as hearthguard, warlords or champions. These models are a mix of the FireForge games models with Irish accessories The Irish come with some wardogs I painted these for our recent Last Days. I tried out my new mixed basing material on them. I like the effect so I will use it on the rest of the army. I also had some Mastiffs. painted cream with black noses Alan suggested hey were war pugs. I have been trying to find out what the Welsh looked like during the War of the Roses. You would think with the internet it would be easy but the best image came from my 30 year old Wargames Research Group (WRG) book Armies of the Middle Ages. This book contains loads of line drawings but no colour plates. I  I have also been assembling some Victri

Last Days - Dances with Wolves

Not really wolves but large numbers of dogs. Alan Richard and I decided to play a season ending episode of Last Days. Apart from when the real Zombie plague confined us to #NZhellhole. We have been playing this campaign for a year. This morning I got to list to Ash talk about alternate apocalypse types coming out in the next issue of Blaster. It looks like there will be a robots rebellion, maybe automated soldier bots from the defence industry or maybe a quite war AI takeover. Alternatively it could be extraterrestrial synthetic lifeforms like the old Berserkers. Maybe we can dig out our survivors to deal with this new menace. Next month we start our FrostGrave campaign. We will spend time until the end of the year building up our warbands and then start the Red Price campaign in 2021. Our bands of intrepid survivors are being hunted by packs of Zombie (or merely desperate and hungry) dogs. After struggling through the forest our survivors see what could be a deserted farm through the

Robin of Frostygrave

Thomas, James and I got in a game of Frostgrave second edition. I used my Robin of Sherwood themed warband. This was one of my favourite shows. it has an interesting blend of historical, myth and fantasy. This is a shot of the cast These are my models. They are not an exact likeness but it should be possible to tell which is which.  Hern the Hunter is a Privateer Press model from their Hordes game. Robin, Little John and Friar Tuck are from Warlord games. Marion and Alan a Dale are from Hasslefree and the rest are made from a set of Frostrgrave adventurers. We played the Ice Storm mission. At the end of each turn each player could choose to bombard a model with a shooting attack. This meant anyone carrying treasure was a priority target. We used one of the Club's mats and my collection of Battlefield in a Box terrain. Here are my team moving out into the section of the city. My Wizard is a Thamaturge so doesn't have much in the way of offensive magic. This also has the advantag
