Call to Arms Zombie Apocalypse - part 1

Image
Alan organised a huge zombie apocalypse game for us all to play at Call to Arms. We used simple AI rules for the zombies and we all got to play characters from movie and TV franchises. This is an overview of the table. It's a full 8 by 6 table. My first character was a pair of identical twins, one good and one evil that had either to kill another child character or get an ice cream on their way out of town A view down the street. There are lots of zombies. Alan was using a modified version of the Carnevale rules so most of the children were acrobats and gymnasts and could jump from rooftop to rooftop. But at the expense of being very vulnerable if caught in combat by a zombie or an enemy character. We have made it to the second roof and are now looking to see if we can jump into the tree and then to a car roof for safety. You could never be sure when you would get and activation because Alan was using a random draw. We managed to fail a jump test and ended up in an alley in the wro...

Alan, Richard and I managed to get in another game of our Last Days seasons campaign. Due to the corona virus and getting sick as soon as we emerged from our lockdown, we have not played this for the last 3 months. In this mission we tried out my extra scary encounters. Playing the game we found that Courage and especially Intelligence had become the dump stat of the game. You rarely used these abilities compared to the more combat related abilities. My idea was to put scifi horror themed encounters on the table that made characters make use of ...

Richard, Alan and I went down to the club to play a game of Last Days, we are starting a Seasons campaign. The Club has bought a number of mats for the club to use. Here is an ancient game being played on a couple of the mats, its some kind of Macedonian  pike army against some kind of legionary style army. Its nice to see members using the club facilities to enhance their games. Here is an overview of our game table. We got to use one of the clubs new mats. Most of the terrain is mine, supplemented by some of Alan's and some of the club's trees. This table depicts a group of survivors who have broken down in a bad part of town (there is a good part?) while getting the parts and fixing their truck some zombies have approached. Here are a couple of side views of the table. We decided to play using our NZ months for the seasons rather than the US months from the book. Appropriately we rolled up rain so visibility was limited to 18" cutting down any long ...
