Warriors of Athena - Boss Fight
For the final fight the three brave heroes got together to go and defeat a dragon, it's hatchlings and anyone else in the immediate vicinity. "You go in there and kill anything with more than two legs!"
This is our interpretation of the final scene of the Hades scenario. The Dragon (Should that be Dagon?) hatchlings have started to wake up and they are hungry. The Hatchlings bound forwards. The Heroes form a defensive perimeter. Achillies is facing off against the licky tongue frog other misshapen creatures are slithering and hopping towards us
Then mummy shows up and she is pissed. She immediately breathes fire and incinerates my archer. "She could not repel firepower of that magnitude."
The Dragon then moves into combat with Richard's hero who was busy dealing with his own spawn. Achillies had killed of the licky frog and was heading the other way.
Richard succeded in climbing on the dragon's back, this was allowed in the scenario rules and gave you a bonus not least of which was that you could not be flamed. However bad things happened if you ever lost a round of combat and were flung off by the gyrating dragon. Richard's slinger is trying to hold off a dragon spawn with some well aimed, high speed rocks.
Achillies was burning heroic abilities like they were going out of style, he managed to climb aboard and then lost a round of combat but used one of his threads of fate for a reroll and won. He then used backswing and stabbed the dragon to death.
Richard responded by sprinting over and recovering a clue card after we cleaned up the spawn. Ed's hero spent the entire battle in the opposite corner from the dragon looking for a silver mirror.
Phew we won that one.
We did change the rules so that we received, ten times as much experience as stated in the basic rules. This meant we finished this campaign on about level 30. So almost worthy of the gods noticing us or people remembering our name in the future.

we also reduced the amount of experience a follower needed to go up a level by 5, so they went up 1-2 levels per mission the participated in.
To us this made it feel like we were advancing up levels for doing heroic deeds, otherwise the experience is largely irrelevant, you barely go up one level in two battles.
This is Grok's interpretation of the final battle.
After this glorious victory the gods couriered a magic weapon to Achillies.

Not a bad bit of heroing!
We all had loads of fun. This game won best demonstration game so I won a voucher from that. For our Boss Fight we borrowed a painted dragon from the vendor that was choosing the best demo game. We then got a voucher to spend as his shop, and Richard and I bought dragon models so our vendor did all right by us and had a good time. We don't have many local manufacturers in New Zealand let alone one we can meet in real life. This made a nice change.
