Frostgrave - the howling of wolves

It turned out most of my gaming group could not make our game on Sunday so it ended up being George and I.

The Vicar of Schlemdorf has asked some of the local militia to guard a chapel. Known only to the Vicar the chapel is the hiding place of an unholy relic. This is so ancient even the Vicar does not know what it is.

Unbeknownst to everyone a vampire knows of the relic hidden in the chapel and has dispatched a force of minions to recover it.

George and I heard that that was gold stored in the chapel and knew that it needed to be rescued.
Vandred leads his team towards the chapel.
Vandred and company are advancing towards the chapel. The Undead have almost made it to the gates.
The Schelmdorf Militia rally to defend the chapel from the undead horde. George miscast Leap on his construct and it ended up on the roof of the Chapel. Tumbling down it landed in a heap and Lance Corporal Jones sowed why Rat Ogres "don't like it up em!" and stabs its with his halberd. Walker the Treasure Hunter distracts it with offers of genuine warpstone laced jewelry, just fell to earth gov.
Morkar the Bloody living up to his name. Vandred cast Strength on Morkar, and with 2 friends he is fight 11 against the Wolf's fight of 1. However everyone loses hen the other person rolls a critical 20. Morkar fell with a clang of armour. That wolf would go on to eat both of the men at arms and the one with the Axe died. Morkar might be the unluckiest model in my warband but he is very good at not dying.

True to form, George cast Lighting bolt from his wizard at the Wraith leading the undead warband. The shot was a critical hit and the Wraith was consumed in a blast of warp fire.
Quite a lot going on in this picture. The Militia and the undead have just about mutually destroyed each other, The construct has been destroyed, Lance Corporal Jones has been bashed into the ground with a blow from a magic mace. Private Pike was hacked down by the enchanted axe of my infantryman. Captain Mainwearing has fallen but not before taking out several of the undead fiends. A sneaky Skaven assassin slipped a poisoned blade into Mr Godfrey the Apothecary. Sergeant Wilson and Private Sponge are holding the gate.
In a surprise but not unexpected piece of treachery the Skaven used leap to move one of their warriors onto one of my treasures and then run away with it.
Vandred demonstrated one of his new spells and teleported into contact with one of the Skaven treasure carriers. The Skaven Wizard leapt the treasure carrier out of the way and the archer ran in to block Vandred's pursuit.
My apprentice tried to cast lighting bolt at the Skacen apprentice but failed, burned the scroll and then rolled a 2 for the shot so the bolt went well wide.
The Skaven apprentice leapt onto the other treasure in the graveyard. I wasn't having any of that so I leapt my Barbarian into contact with the apprentice. Wilson and Sponge are still holding off the last of the undead.
Vandred hacked down the Skaven archer and then ran into combat with the treasure carrier.
The Undead wolves were horrific they rolled an above average number of critical hits and at just about everything they came into contact with.
The arrival of one of the devil wolves and a daemon in the Skaven deployment area made it too hot for Vandred. He teleported back to a safer part of the battle field. My new Barbarian did not suffer a case of new model syndrome and hacked down the apprentice. My Knight and Infantryman are looking at the central treasure and planning on taking off whomever survives the fight between the undead and the militia.
The last of the milita fall and we assault the undead trying to claim the relic. We are slowly falling back before the rampaging zombie.
George's wizard positions himself between the Skaven carrying a treasure and the onrushing wolf and Daemon. The Skaven wizard managed to win one of the fights and push himself out of combat and thus able to run off the table. This uncharacteristic bravery was rewarded with a scroll and some gold. The Skaven wizard survived on one wound, thanks to his ring of protection which made him armour 11.
Vandred blasts the annoying zombie with a lighting bolt
My Barbarian, Knight and Infatryman emerge battered but in possession of the Chapel grounds and all its treasures.

I ended up with a pair of magical spectacles that can see invisible, a Staff of Power (1) and a Grimoire of Draining Word (this might be very handy to shut down that Transpose shenanigans.)

With the death of the Man at Arms I had enough money to buy a Bard so We got to add a drummer to the band.

Here are the crew belting out the Chaos ballad Kill, Maim, Burn!
