The Daemon's Claw

I the second mission we were sent into the ShadowDeep (Wales) to find out what is going on. The newly rescued Marion has joined the team. Here we are at the top of the escarpment Looking down the path we can see three ruined buildings. The air hangs heavy with the stench of death. Two giant flies buzz towards the team, One gets taken out by a swat from Much's staff. Several members of the team are sickened by the stench of this place and are weakened by nausea. Robin, Marion and John lead the advance one fly is dealt with, but another takes its place. More  flies emerge and are swatted. Friar Tuck made it to one of the ruined buildings and set it on fire. Robin encountered a clue marker. No Flies on us this turn, Will Scarlet makes it to a second building and prepares to set it one fire. We uncover evidence of someone camping here, the team make it to the bottom of the stairs. Hopefully the train of burning buildings we left won't signal any intelligent opponents.  

The heroes gathered themselves at the top of the stairs, ready for the final push. A scream from inside the room and the heroes burst in Inside the room the Baron has Marion tied to a pentagram and is waving a sacrifice. The Baron is guarded by a Saracen Assassin he brought back from the Crusades.  Robin fired an arrow at the figure and got a critical hit. The Saracen warrior slumped to the floor.  I was planning to shoot the Saracen and charge in with support to finish him off, so over achieving threw my plan out of the window. Herne moved into the room and zapped the Baron with the Silver arrow. This was a good start because the Baron is partially immune to non-magic weapons. The Baron had archers on the look-out platform. The took shots at Herne through the windows fortunately they missed. Little John and the soldier we had rescued from the torture chamber took out the archers, one went over the side. The Baron stabbed Will with his cursed dagger. He only had to hold us off for 4 mo

The crew have tracked Baron DeBellem's cult back to an old tower, known colloquially as the Devil's Finger. Robin led the sneak up to the tower and used the keys found at the river campsite to open the doors.  The team opened the door to find the cultists torturing some of the Sheriff of Nottigham's soldiers Robin fired an arrow taking our one of the cult soldiers, and then charged into the room, Will Scarlet then took down another and we were able to rescue one of the Sherriff's soldiers. Two others were too weak to be able to assist. The team started up the stairs, you have only 4 turns to get into the next room or the defenders have time to prepare and the rooms get harder. This room had some more cultists, this time the arrow and charge tactic didn't work, and the fighting was close and fierce. The Cultists started falling but would they fall fast enough? I ran the first two missions from the Rangers of Shadowdeep book at Call to Arms. I'm using the cast of Robin of Sherwood (one of my favourite shows) as the party of heroes. I have adapted the scenarios to the first episodes of Robin of Sherwood. After escaping Nottingham Castle, Robin, Much and Will Scarlet make it to the village of Wickham only to find it abandoned. While dispatching the villagers that turned into Zombies the Party encountered Friar Tuck. He told a tale that Marion of Leaford had been abducted by the men of Baron DeBellem. He has taken her to his tower. After hacking their way through a spider infested forest the crew make it to the river only to find it guarded by a squad of the Baron's followers.
