Rusty Dagger - Pirates part 3

 Mazmar's ship is partly held together by magic and he has a ghostly bodyguard.

Mazmar is carrying out his ritual in his casting circle when he spies Arzag and Olivia. He waved forward his spirit guards to finally complete his triumph.
The two sides confront each other across the deck of Mazmar's ship
Olivia and Arzag both drink small healing potions Arzag moves up but his first attack misses 11-12.

A revenant misses Arzag 5-9,
Arzag Heavy Blows, 12-9, misses 9-9 and then succeeds again 14-2
The rest of the Revenants move up and start to outflank Arzag.
Arzag misses 11-14, the Revenant lands a heavy blow of Arzag 11-9
the Revenant moves up and stabs Olivia
Arzag heavy blows the Revenant 10-7 ending it, he then moves to constst the route to Olivia.
Mazmar moves up but his strike at Arzag misses 9-10. 
Arzag inflicts a pair of heavy blows on the revenant menacing Olivia 12-9 and 11-8
Mazmar misses Arzag 9-13
Arzag then misses 8-14,
The Revenant inflicts another heavy blow on Olivia, she is down to 1 health.
Arzag Heavy Blows the Revenant that was attacking Olivia 9-6
Mazmar misses again 9-11
The Revenant moves up and stabs Olivia 7-2 and she falls
Arzag hits Mazmar 11-7 but then misses 10-12
The Revenant misses Arzag 6-10
Mazmar misses Arzag 9-12
Arzag lands another heavy blow on Mazmar 13-5, then misses 10-11 and lands a final strike 12-9. Mazmar falls.

Arzag now duels the last 2 revenants
He defends two revenant attacks 5-13 and 3-10
He then misses 9-12, 9-11 before landing a heavy blow 13-4
Bracketing Arzag, a Revenant lands a heavy blow on Arzag 14-6
Arzag lands heavy blows 13-7 & 11-9 
The Revenants land two heavy blows of their own 8-5 and 9-8
Arzag misses 4-10 and he blocks a revenants strike 11-11

Arzag Heavy Blows a revenant 9-3
He then blocks 3 strikes while one of his own is parried
He then lands another heavy blow 11-7
The final revenant is down to its last two wounds, it misses with 3 strikes before Arzag lands the final blow 13-7

Without its magical enchantments Mazmar's ship starts to disintegrate.
He manages to build a raft out of the ships boats and scrambles aboard before rowing away from the sinking vessel.

Grabbing the magical jewels that had powered Mazmar's necromancy Arzag made good his escape.
He ended up with 60 gold and 1 Skill Point. That's enough to take him up to 6th level.

Butno amount of gold makes up for the loss of Olivia.

Frostgrave introduction and trial game

 I tried out my illusionist warband against George’s construct building enchanter. My warband are made from the Shadow stalker and the underworlds box. They are supplemented with a classic avatars of war thief and a witch Elf thug. I have two shadow hounds and an illusionary one. The trick with this warband is to rush up a war dog, then transpose that with a fast mover and then in the apprentice phase swap the illusionary dog with the treasure carrier. On a 3 by 3 table you can get the central treasure under control in your deployment zone by the end of the apprentice phase in turn 1. We played the mausoleum scenario which turned out to be even better, there were uncontrolled creatures right next to the treasure and they don’t resist being transposed.  The terrain is set out to represent an abandoned or soon to be depopulated Empire village.  Here we are Pete in the first turn. Call To Arms 2025

 We held our annual convention Call to Arms on the weekend of 30-31 August. About 160 wargamers from all over New Zealand came and played in 10 different events. Up on the stage we had a couple of different Napoleonic games. They are great looking games with nice armies in spiffy uniforms. The main hall was mostly filled with GW games. on the far left we have the MESBG, then AOS. These were two of our largest events. In the middle of the hall, we have the Horus Heresy games On the right of the hall, we have Kill Team, Flames of War, Warhammer Old World and some of the Demo games including Alan's huge zombie apocalypse game. (more on that later) The ancient gamers are on their preferred side hall. It's warm, quiet and close to the toilets. There were 18 of them playing DBMM This is one of the MESBG tables. Stargrave game 2 - It's a bug hunt

  George and I got in a second game of our Stargrave campaign. We used the dead or alive mission and generated the Brood Mother. I didn't think it made much sense for a group of human mercenaries to work for a creature that kept trying to get them to bathe in marinade. I replaced all the mercenaries with spiders using the creatures from Quadrant 37. We used the Transmat to beam down to the planet Spiridon This is a very hostile jungle planet teaming with all sorts of lethal predators. Receiving reports of unidentified aliens hiding in the Plane of Stones we set out through the jungle to find out what was going on.  Here is the Raknos nest, somewhat unexpected. In addition. the nearby volcano is showing signs of an imminent eruption. Here we have the crew deployed. We have a new Engineer, I think I forgot to deploy one of the team.
