We got together for another Stargrave mission, game, thing. I got Grok to create a couple of background images. This time our information took us to a Class L (earthlike) orbiting a gas giant. While trekking through the jungle looking at the strange plants and animals that inhabit these unique ecological niches. Some of the inhabitants tried to carve their niches on us. Finally, we arrived at an ancient pyramidal shaped building. This was the source of the energy readings we had detected. Here we are deployed in little corner of the world. After the last game and the death of Trooper Lytton we had to replace him with a Robotic Bruiser to save money. Just as we got close to the Pyramid what looked like shipping containers dropped out of the sky on parachutes. Here we are advancing towards the building and the energy sources. After the last series of adventures Arzag headed south to warmer climes. He finds himself in the tribal kingdoms, unaccompanied by his previous companions he is on his own. Azalia went home to her father her desire for adventure and risk taking satisfied for now. Vildy went with her, their mutual attraction growing. I decided that after the last adventure Arzag would leave town and head south. Vildy stayed behind to marry Azalia and the others were becoming a liability. To play the next adventure I made a new outdoor battle area and some scatter terrain.  I cut out the board from some extruded PVC Alan gave me. I marked out some areas to be swamp, added some broken cobbles and covered the rest in ground coffee. I marked the grid on so I would know where to put the cobbles to line up on a square. Here we are after an initial coat of paint After some initial coats of paint. The flock is from Huge Minis. It;s their moorland blend. I marked the grid back on with a fine Sharpe. I then applied a thinned coat of PVA water and isopropyl alcohol. The water pools got a coat of clear Modpodge gloss. I blew on them to create some ripples. After drying overnight the Modpodge is ready to go. I marked the cracks on the flagstones with the Sharpe. The ripples are slightly visible. Here we go with some scatter...

I found myself in the final of the league. I was up against Alice and her Goremonger team with its 4-0-0 record. Pete mentioned he wanted a walk-through test game with Goremongers so we set up a dress rehearsal game using the same map and Crit Op. I thought this would be better than trying to play both sides myself. This was the map we used, I got the Red deployment zone. I deployed 2 operatives on the left, 3 in the middle and one on the right. The Right operative was a distraction carnifex and its objective was to try and make the Goremongers keep multiple operatives in that room to score points. I'm using the standard team of Assault Sergeant, Eliminator Sniper, Intercessor Gunner, Assault Grenadier and 2 Assault Intercessor warriors. There seemed minimal need to take long range guns when the fighting was going to be in 3 phone booths. Pete chose all the faction equipment. I dropped the Auspex for razor wire and a mine.
