Adepticon Frostgrave - Arachnomorphia

We were in part of the Frostgrave world that was infested with the curse of the Spider god. This was a 2 scenario mini campaign.

Here is my warband after the first game. Much-gather the gold pressed warpstone. Lots of Kill-Slay.
Here we are running up a buncha rats. My Rat-ogre is an animal companion-bear. I have cast Strength on it so it's fight 6. The treasures are guarded by some Ice spiders. These are low level followers and spies for the Spider god.
A quick distraction looking over at the next table. This was a multi-player game.
My advance is led by a couple of plague monks the bears a warrat-hound. My Wizards have bravely assumed the Skaven leadership position at the rear. The are covered by 2 crossbow-rats
A gnoll thug briefly disputes control of the treasure chest. The hound is great because its fast moving so can add an extra +2 combat resolution were needed. I had a Kennel in my base so I could have an 11th model.
The Rat Ogres doing Ogre things and bullying the more numerous but lower quality opposition. One of the Gnolls has grabbed a treasure and slunk off with it. The warrior with the blue sword is a Templar.

In the end All the enemy soldiers involved in the fighting were incapacitated and we were left with 4 treasures. No one got incapacitated by the spiders which respawned when you killed them.
In the second scenario we had found one of the avatars of the Spider god. Unfortunately the spider curse was much stronger here and a couple of soldiers could randomly turn into ice spiders. They might be on your side or hostile. Intially I started off with my Hound and Rat at Arms infected.
Here we are leaping forwards, scurry-quick. Unfortunately, one of my bears turned into a spider but I did get my hound back. After their dismal showing in the first game, I swapped my Knight for one of the crossbow rats. The Spider queen will move towards the nearest Ice Spider and if it ends its activation in contact with an Ice Spider that transformation becomes permanent, and your soldier is dead.
One of the Gnolls managed to unlock the central treasure but is pinned down by my hound and has a rat ogre closing rapidly. My Rat-at arms and Jezzail rat were having a back-and-forth contest turning into a spider and then back again. Almost everyone else was being normal enough to get the job done. The Spider queen moved over and contacted one of the Gnoll Templars while he was cursed as an Ice Spider, thus transforming him permanently into a member of the spider cult. The rest of the Gnolls took revenge on the Spider queen and their former comrade.
The Rat Ogre smashes through the webs in time to find the Gnoll has made a break for the side. Going back was contra indicated due to the presence of spiders.
The Gnoll thug is pinned down by Bones of the Earth. That spell is as annoying as Tom said it was. The Gnoll is now attacked by my assassin and the rat-hound.
The Plague Monks arrive to clean up the mess and secure the central treasure
My Rat-hound and Rat Ogre exchange curses. The remaining Gnoll templar makes a break for the last treasure hiding behind the brasier. The last ice spiders get pulped, and we skitter-leap back to our Inn-hideout for a nice glass of mulled warpstone and mushroom wine.

The spider curse scenario was hilarious with models changing back and forth at random intervals. You could not rely on anything and stacking buffs on soldiers could all be for nothing when your super solider promptly turned into a Spider.

Everyone was having fun, the tables were great and very immersive. I'm inspired to do some more Frostgrave later in 2025.

  1. Awesome... Your Skaven look quite at home on those tables.

  2. Yes, it was a lot of fun. Lots of Die-Die dog-thing. My Assassin got attacked by an Ice Spider but responded with a critical hit to the face. This was a nice mini campaign. I didn't get a chance to cast Plague of Insects on the Rat Ogres this would have made them even more unstoppable.
